HAMPTON, Va. (AP) — The parents of a young Maryland man who drowned March 20 on the campus of Hampton University want the city police to investigate his death.
The Virginian-Pilot reports that David Esan’s parents made the request Wednesday after a memorial service on campus. A campus police investigation is underway.
The 17-year-old pharmacy major from Randallstown, Md., drowned during a pool party sponsored by the freshman class.
Hampton police said they have not received a request for assistance from campus police in the investigation. They said that is protocol when they are involved with a campus investigation.
